Home improvers should invest in insurance
Those planning on upgrading their home with a bespoke conservatory may be interested in the latest comments from the Association of Self Build Architects (ASBA).
According to the organisation, it is "absolutely crucial" to have professional indemnity insurance in place when working with an architect.
ASBA chairman Julian Owen explained that the cover helps protect homeowners from any costs arising from mistakes made during the building process.
"It is quite rare for things to go seriously wrong, but when they do, there is normally a big cost implication and it is not like you can put that down to experience," he said.
Mr Owen explained that it is also important to establish a budget before embarking on any home building or improvement project in order to stop costs spiralling and nullifying the potential for disputes.
Meanwhile, a ratedpeople.com recently suggested that homeowners buying their second property should put some cash aside for sprucing the place up, which should help to boost its future value.
