Huddersfield park and conservatory work on track
A £5.4 million plan to renovate a popular Huddersfield park and conservatory is on track to finish later this year.
According to the Huddersfield Examiner, the work at Greenhead Park should be finished by autumn and will allow users to benefit from revamped park gates, restaurant, ornamental lake and glazed building.
Work has taken almost nine months so far, but has progressed well, despite one of the longest and hardest winters in recent history.
Kirklees Council project manager Robert Whittaker explained that while the park currently looks "a bit of a mess", things are progressing nicely.
"We're trying to keep as much of the park open as possible, but it's inevitable there will be times when sections need to be closed," he told the newspaper.
The conservatory is being completely re-glazed and is set to have a restaurant, plants and under-floor heating when the project is complete.
Meanwhile, the South Wales Argus has revealed that a mother's three-year fundraising campaign to build a conservatory-style hydrotherapy pool house for her ill daughters has been successful.
