Community provides family with pool house
A Welsh family has managed to build a conservatory-style pool house thanks to the kind-heartedness of the community.
Debbie Brawn launched a fundraising effort three years ago to help pay for the much-needed treatment facility for her daughters Angharad and Rhiannon, who are both thought to suffer from the rare Schwartz-Jampel syndrome.
According to the South Wales Argus, the girls - aged 14 and 12 respectively - require hydrotherapy to ease the symptoms of the painful condition, which causes muscular and skeletal deterioration.
Fundraisers helped raise £40,000 for the facility and Ms Brawn thanked them for their efforts, explaining that it would allow her daughters to receive the treatment they need, but can't get on the NHS due to lack of capacity.
"It's been overwhelming at times, the support, and we are very, very grateful to everyone," she said.
Ms Brawn added that people had been resourceful in their fundraising, holding everything from sponsored bike rides to car boot sales.
In other news, the Huddersfield Examiner has revealed that work on the city's Greenhead Park and its conservatory is on track and is expected to be completed later this year.
