Slowdown in house price rise reported
Despite the recent rise in house prices, March has seen a record slowdown in the increases, according to figures from Rightmove.
The statistics show that the 0.1 per cent rise over February's data is the lowest ever recorded during March.
It may encourage Brits looking to boost the value of their homes to invest in improvements, such as a bespoke conservatory.
However, Assetz chief executive officer Stuart Law explained that the figures do not come as a surprise and are the product of recent environmental and industrial conditions.
"The beginning of the year has been affected by snow and stamp duty changes at the end of December and we are just experiencing two or three months of a slowdown in the data," he said.
Mr Law added that the market is currently "confused" but that the rest of the year should be positive, despite there still being some risks.
He revealed that the industry had been growing at an unsustainable 11 per cent per year until the end of 2009.
