Athlete pays off conservatory with podium finish
The World Indoor Championships in Doha have helped a Brit to pay off her conservatory, it has been revealed.
Athlete Jenny Meadows bagged a silver medal and £13,000 in prize money after breaking the British record for the second time in less than a month.
Despite leading with 100m to go, the runner was overtaken by Russian Mariya Savinova, who finished a fraction of a second before her.
Meadows explained that while she was content with silver, it was disappointing not to have taken the gold.
However, she noted that the new record and second place represents progress from a bronze medal at the World Championships.
The cash has also helped pay off her glazed extension, which many may feel is not a bad return on less than two minutes of running.
She completed the race in one minute, 58.43 seconds to set the new UK record.
