Liverpool conservatory to host celebration
A celebration of Liverpool heritage is to take place in a large conservatory in Stanley Park.
The event is in honour of William Gladstone's bicentennial and will take place in the glazed structure named after his wife.
The Isla Gladstone Conservatory was renovated last year as part of plans to revamp Stanley Park.
It will be the centre of the celebrations today (March 10th) as the Liverpool East Neighbourhood Team hosts around 200 guests from the local community, the Liverpool Echo reported.
As well as a formal tea, there will be people in traditional Victorian dress and a range of historical information.
"This event has a tea dance theme, but is also about celebrating local history," councillor Gary Millar, who came up with the idea for the celebration, told the newspaper.
Stanley Park offers a tranquil divide between the stadia of the city's fiercest footballing rivals.
Liverpool's Anfield is located to the south, while those who head to the north will find Everton's Goodison Park.
