Historic craft village to benefit from new glazed canopies
While bespoke conservatories and glazed canopies may be something of a modern invention, the bosses of a craft village in Northern Ireland have announced plans to revamp a number of historic homes with such add-ons.
Since being opened in 1992, the Londonderry Craft Village has established itself as a popular destination for both locals and tourists, thanks to its combination of specialist, individual shops and its sense of history.
Now, plans to modernise the 18th-century buildings have been announced by the owners, with new glazed canopies to be constructed over the existing entrances so as to keep visitors dry while simultaneously allowing them to appreciate the original architecture and enjoy the sunshine, the Londonderry Sentinel has reported.
The newspaper added that the plans have already been submitted to the relevant local authority department, with a decision on the glazed canopies and other proposed renovation projects to be made within the next few days.
This comes soon after the Lancashire Telegraph similarly reported that an historic home in the country is to benefit from a new conservatory as part of an ambitious makeover project.
