Homeowners urged to check conservatory security
Homeowners with a bespoke conservatory attached to their properties have been advised to consider all aspects of security.
The Wiltshire Times reports that there has been a spate of break-ins in the area, with many burglars taking advantage of the reluctance of locals to take adequate precautions.
A homeowner was recently caught out after leaving their garage and conservatory doors unlocked, and PC Kane Fulbrook Smith of Trowbridge police has reminded local residents to ensure all entry points are secure rather than just the front and back doors.
"It's important that homes are secured when property is left unoccupied, even when sleeping during the night, it's not worth the risk of leaving doors and window unlocked," he told the news provider.
He suggested that a routine security check should be carried out before people leave their homes to ensure all doors and windows have been fastened securely.
A poll conducted by Ratedpeople.com recently suggested the majority of people in the UK consider home improvements, such as adding a bespoke conservatory, are the best way to improve the value of a property.
