Conservatories to be celebrated in US initiative
A special event to celebrate the role of conservatories in the promotion of environmental stewardship was announced yesterday (February 3rd).
National Public Gardens Day will take place on May 7th with the aim of championing the benefits of glasshouses, botanical gardens and historical landscapes, Easier.com reports.
The American Public Gardens Association (APGA), which is organising the second instalment of the annual initiative, revealed that it is expecting thousands of visitors to attend public gardens across North America.
"Regardless of their size, all public gardens share a common commitment to providing outreach programmes aimed at engaging their communities and educating future generations on the irreplaceable value of plants," APGA executive director Dan Stark told the news provider.
The event will be supported by a range of national awareness and education campaigns, designed to highlight the environmental benefits of managing plants and conserving water effectively.
A recent report in the Daily Mail suggested that conservatories are ideal for protecting delicate plants during the cold winter months.
