Bowls club delighted with conservatory upgrade
Bowls enthusiasts at a club in West Yorkshire are thoroughly enjoying the benefits of their recently-improved conservatory, the Huddersfield Daily Examiner reports.
Lindley Bowling Club decided to redecorate and refurbish the glasshouse as part of a major project that also included new furniture and an upgraded security system.
According to Geoff Warner, an 82-year-old retired engineer who is in his 56th year as a member of the club, the new conservatory has already provided some entertainment during the winter.
"On one occasion we were sitting having coffees in the conservatory when a young stag burst across the green and into the allotments," he told the newspaper.
"A few minutes later it charged back across the green without doing any damage at all."
Mr Warner added that a modern kitchen and new toilets have also recently been installed at the club, while there is now parking facilities available for about 40 cars.
Last week, the Spenborough Guardian revealed that an ancient well was discovered by conservatory builders at a site in Heckmondwicke, which is also in West Yorkshire.
