Quarter of Brits will never have dream home

12 May 2009

A recent study has shown almost a quarter (23 per cent) of Brits feel they will never have their dream home.

Two-thirds (66 per cent) still believe it is possible, while 85 per cent say their current property is not their dream house, according to research from Legal and General.

When asked which areas required the most attention, 38 per cent of respondents agreed their kitchens had been neglected and required a home improvement.

The results could suggest a number of consumers may be open to the idea of a kitchen extension.

Meanwhile, 28 per cent would rather invest in improving their bathroom.

Legal and General head of communications Ruth Wilkins explained there is a reluctance to spend on improving the home at the moment.

"Choosing not to do what may be considered more cosmetic home improvements to save some pennies, could actually be essential home maintenance that should still be done," she asserted.

Meanwhile, police in Wimbledon Park have warned residents considering a home improvement to be wary of cold calls from builders they do not know offering to do the work.ADNFCR-1496-ID-19164634-ADNFCR
