Loans more expensive than in 2007
Those looking for a loan to build a conservatory may have to pay up to 44 per cent more than they would have done two years ago, it has been revealed.
MoneyFacts.co.uk figures show people seeking a £5,000 sum are likely to be the hardest hit, with the average rate jumping from 8.6 per cent in May 2007 to 12.4 per cent today.
However, those looking to spend £25,000 on a bespoke conservatory will only notice an increase of 1.9 per cent to today's average rate of 9.2 per cent.
Residents near the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks may need to act quickly if they are to acquire planning permission for their glazed extension or glasshouse.
A recent article in the Daily Mail pointed out plans are afoot to expand the jurisdiction of National Parks Authorities by extending both areas.
This could mean local homeowners wishing to add an improvement such as a conservatory or pool house may struggle with red tape.
However, it added house values are likely to increase by around ten per cent if they suddenly become part of a National Park area.
