Homeowners looking to add personal touch
There is a trend developing among UK homebuyers where they look to personalise their property, making their mark almost as soon as they move in.
That is the opinion of Aspect Maintenance managing director William Davies, who believes new homeowners often wish to use home improvements to put their own personal stamp on their new purchase.
With summer fast approaching, now may be a good time to install a conservatory or lean-to glazed extension to help make the most of the sunshine.
"People like to be doing things to their properties these days," Mr Davies explained.
"A trend that we have seen a lot more of over the last couple of years [is that] as soon as someone moves in to a property they seem to want to put their stamp on it."
The expert also suggested that some homeowners had been forced to extend to make room for expanding families as moving to a larger property may have become unrealistic thanks to the state of the property market.
Mr Davies' view is shared by Homebuilding and Renovating magazine editor Jason Orme, who recently suggested that Brits are increasingly looking to make improvements to personalise their homes rather than simply add value.
