Shard of Glass construction to be completed on schedule

24 February 2009

The global economic downturn will not disrupt the building of Europe's tallest mixed-used building on London's South Bank, it has been revealed.

Salah Mohamad Jaidah, chairman of LBQ, the developer of a 1,000 ft tower known as the Glass Shard, has announced that the project will go ahead as planned despite the difficulties being experienced by the construction sector in the wake of the financial crisis.

"We are very pleased to have reached the stage where everybody has the confidence to move this project forward in such a strong manner," he commented.

"The investors in LBQ have great confidence that the Shard will be completed on schedule in what are very difficult economic conditions."

On completion, the tower will dominate the London skyline not only as a result of its stature but also because of its eye-catching use of glass, with the material used in roof lights and sky lights as well as along the sides of the building.

Live site cameras of the construction process can be accessed via the shardlondonbridge.com website.ADNFCR-1496-ID-19043392-ADNFCR
