A Dubai based design company has patented its vision of the future; a giant pyramid city covered in glass.
The 2.3 sq km Ziggurat building will be eco-friendly, with the entire outer shell being made up of solar panels and wind turbines, Timelinks managing director Ridas explained.
"Ziggurat communities can be almost totally self-sufficient energy-wise," he said.
"Apart from using steam power in the building we will also employ wind turbine technology to harness natural energy resources."
What's even more impressive is the fact that it will be able to accommodate up to one million people yet will need no vehicles other than a monorail system which works both horizontally and vertically.
For those who like the idea of using glass as a design or building tool, a glazed extension can give a modern look to the home, until such a time as we all live in Ziggurats.
