West Midlands to host glass events

The West Midlands is to host the third annual International Festival of Glass and British Blass Biennale exhibition in August.

The events will take place in Stourbridge's historic Glass Quarter and visitors will have the chance to see some of the world's top glass designs including the world premiere of Tempestade, a glass puppet show of Shakespeare's The Tempest.

At The International Festival of Glass, Beginners and established artists will be able to attend master-classes between August 18th and 21st, while August 22nd to 25th will be set aside for interactive events and exhibitions.

Other attractions include narrow boat rides, a bead fair, lectures, festival ale and street entertainment.

Finally, there will also be a long-awaited exhibition of the work of Keith Cummings – Britain's most renowned glass caster.

Meanwhile, The British Glass Biennale exhibition will take pride of place with over 80 British artists' works on display.

The event holds the record for the largest prize fund in contemporary glass exhibition at £14,000.
