It's time to celebrate glass again

Stourbridge's glass quarter will play host to two top glass festivals once again next month, according to reports.

The International Festival of Glass and the British Glass Biennale exhibition will both come back to the area for the third time.

This year's festival will include the first ever showing of Tempestade – a play using shadow puppets made out of Portuguese glass.

Glass dresses designed by Diana Dias-Leao will also be on display along with glass jewellery at the festival and exhibition.

Festival goers will wait in anticipation for the British Glass Biennale in which more than 80 artists from Britain will put their sculptures, installations and other works on display.

It kicks off on August 22nd at the Ruskin Glass Centre, Amblecote, and will go on until September 28th.

People can take part in master classes and workshops on glass art between August 18th and 21st.
